CuSn7Pb15 (Ltp115, Promet 715, JM4, CC496K)

Soft leaded tin bronze for heavy bearing applications

CuSn7Pb15 is also known as Ltp115 and Promet 715 — in international standards the material appears under the designations JM4 and CC496K. The alloy is a relatively soft bearing material with excellent sliding and emergency-lubrication properties and good corrosion resistance, even against sulphuric acid. It is the most machinable of the leaded tin bronzes. Typical applications include sliding bearings under heavy surface pressure where edge loading can occur, bearings in large earth-moving machinery, piston sliding rings, the piston-pin bushings of large marine diesel engines, mixers, and cold-rolling-mill bearings without a white-metal lining.
