Highly machinable tin bronze for bearing and sliding applications
CuSn11Pb2 is also known as Tp12 Pb2 — in international standards the material appears under the designations JM12 and CC482K. A small lead addition (2 %) significantly improves the machinability of the alloy without materially weakening its mechanical properties. In its characteristics the alloy sits between CuSn10 and CuSn12, and it is suited to bearing and sliding applications that call for good machinability.
