Hard tin bronze for demanding bearing and sliding applications
CuSn12 is also known as Tp12 and Promet 12 — in international standards the material appears under the designations JM3 and CC483K. The alloy offers the best combination of strength and sliding properties of all the tin bronzes, and it withstands wear, abrasion and seawater well. CuSn12 is especially suited to sliding bearings subject to impact-type load peaks of up to 120 N/mm², such as crankshaft and toggle-joint bearings. Typical applications also include sliding guides, feed-screw nuts, cylinder bushings, and the rotation and guide bushings of rock-drilling machines.
